I'd better let you know right off the bat that I have no new pictures, so if that's what you're here for you might as well skip this post. ;)
I also want to say congratulations to Jessica and Brendan on the birth of Spud, now apparently known as Ezra. I already have a Baby Ezra in my life, so I may have to continue to call this one Spud. ;)
And now on to Stellb. I guess I never announced on here that she is a she!! (Sorry Ashley!) :) We found out a few weeks ago that Stella is going to have a little sister. I'm very excited about this, since I have a little sister myself who is awesome. :) Also because we already have lots of girl clothes!
So far Stellb is very active, just like her sister. In fact, last night I think she was having a dance party, which made it rather difficult for me to get to sleep. Her kicking/punching/whatever was a lot stronger than I've felt so far. I'm a little nervous, because I'm really not big at all yet, and if she's already keeping me awake I don't know how I'll get any sleep in a couple of months! I've been feeling pretty tired lately, and Stella isn't too keen on napping any more so I haven't been getting naps either. Other than that I feel pretty good. This has been a far easier pregnancy over all, which I am grateful for. Hopefully I'll get some belly pics soon, I haven't even taken any yet. I was talking to another mom this morning about the differences with the second pregnancy as opposed to the first. It seems like you start showing so much earlier, but it's really just that all of the fat you have there now gets pushed out!! That's exactly how I've felt the past few months. Just in the past week or two my belly has actually become more baby than fat, which makes me happy. :)
This week Stella and I are doing VBS at our church. Today was the first day, and I'm helping with the 2s and 3s, who are actually all children of the workers ("official" VBS starts at age 4). It was pretty crazy this morning, with 9 kids and only 2 adults. Their time is pretty structured, and our classroom is in the toddler nursery which means there are lots of distracting toys. I kind of wish they could just play for a while. At lot of energy was spent just trying to keep them corralled and paying attention during each activity. I am seriously exhausted. We will hopefully have more adult backup tomorrow! It was fun though, and these things usually go more smoothly as the week progresses. I have to say, though, that I'm not sure how I feel about the reward system set up for this age. They get stickers in their book when they obey their teachers and help clean up, are kind to others, etc, and this was definitely emphasized to them. The other teacher is just more strict than I am anyway, so it's certainly interesting. I will hopefully have more insightful thoughts on this in the next few days, so I will just leave it at that for now. (If it were up to me, I'd probably just chuck the schedule, make sure we do the Bible story and just let them play the rest of the time, and they could do the crafts if they wanted to. So maybe it's best it's not up to me!)
Dinner calls. Well, dinner prep. We're having BBQ steak (bought a ton on sale last month and can't believe I'm not sick of it yet!!), broccoli, and I'm going to attempt to BBQ some sweet potatoes (can you do that??). YUM!!

another GIRL! So exciting! Thanks for sharing with us about what you are up to and how it's going :).
I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the reward system at VBS, as I tend to agree. How do you communicate the gospel to toddlers w/out emphasising morality over grace?
No pictures are ok, because your last post made my cup runneth over!
Re: pregnant mom needing rest and active toddler - I would save special or favorite videos and/or toys of yours and bring them out while I rested on the couch. Most of the time you were good about it.
Re: VBS - I share your philosophy. Play time (whether free play, singing, or active games) should be the priority, with a short Bible story. Chuck the regimented schedule! Crafts should be optional and simple. As far as Ashley's comment about focusing on grace rather than morality - if the particular stories you share with them talk about being good, you can always add that we can always ask God to help us be good because we can't do it on our own. Always emphasing that God's love for us never changes, no matter how we act. Or, emphasise the Bible stories were grace and mercy are the main themes.
Looking forward to a picture of you and the Stellb bump :).
Yay for sisters! Re: VBS--I am right there with ya! And as a girl who still needs to be rewarded for her behavior at 28, I am really going to try and curb that w/ Sam and Amelia:) Love and miss ya, jenny
grammauntjan would definately have to comment almost exactly word for word about what grandma sandy had to say about vbs! Yikes!
grammauntjan would be the expert on vbs - glad we think alike! Yep, it is scary...
