pictures!

Here are some pictures from the last month or so that I haven't gotten around to posting.

From a week and a half ago - at 37 weeks.  Matching baby bellies, artistically drawn by our favourite midwife.  Stellb is in proper position - woo hoo!  We took a bunch of pictures but they are all EXTREMELY unflattering, so I won't post any others!

Stella ready for church, modelling her beautiful new bolero, bag and hair clip made by the lovely and talented Judith (lovingly referred to as "Jubiff").

Now showing off her favourite new game of closing her eyes when someone is trying to take a picture of her.

Eating ice cream in Vancouver (BC, not WA).

Making blueberry muffins.

Oh, I'm so funny!  I'm closing my eyes again!

What I saw when I checked on Stella before I went to bed one night.  I know my mom is going to make a "like mother like daughter" comment about this one... :)

I made matching hats for my girls.

So, I am due next week.  Yes.  NEXT WEEK.  Yikes!  I do have mostly everything ready.  Mostly.  There are a number of things that I would like to get done before Stellb gets here, but only a couple that really need to be done.  I actually managed to mop my kitchen floor the other day, which was desperately needed.  I'm hoping not to do that again for a long time...

I'm feeling pretty well overall, considering I am about to have a baby.  I don't feel as huge as I did with Stella at this point.  I am just so tired, though.  I'm tired all the time.  And I bawl about something at least once a day.  I'm not feeling the "get this baby out of me now" feeling though, so that's good.  I seem to be nesting as I'm trying to clean like mad.  Everything takes so long though, I feel like I am moving in slow motion sometimes.  I've done a bit of sewing, too.  I made some diapers, which I'm pretty proud of.

Stella is in an "I have some serious attitude" phase.  Her current thing is putting her hands over her ears when you tell her something.  With a defiant look on her face.  The other day she did it before I had even actually uttered a sound, she just knew I was going to say something she didn't like.  It drives both Jonathan and me insane, as you can imagine.  Sometimes she combines it with her Run Away and Scream maneuver.  We are all learning about consistency in discipline! But despite all the attitude, Stella manages to be a little sweetie a lot of the time.  She is getting more snuggly and affectionate.  We've also been around babies a lot lately, a lot of my friends are pregnant or new moms.  So Stella likes to pretend to be a baby sometimes.  She sort of still fits in my lap at this point - we make it work.  Stellb must be one tough little cookie after all the kicking and elbowing and jumping she has endured thus far.  My stomach is taking a serious beating from inside and outside!

We also seem to manage to be super busy all the time.  I just don't know how it happens.  I'm trying really hard to slow down.  I'm trying to be home for both Stella and I to lay down every afternoon.  Not to go too many places or try to see too many people.  Not to keep Stella (and myself!) out late.  I know I need to rest as much as possible while I can, but it's just so hard!  I feel like Stella sometimes, incapable of sitting still.  Even though I'm exhausted.  I have a constant mental checklist going of all the things that "need" to be done.  And of course I love getting together with people.  Sometimes I think I need one of those silly little throw pillows reminding me, Relax. :)

Stella got this book from the library a few weeks ago, and it has been one of our favourites.  It repeats Psalm 118:24 throughout:  "This is the day that the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it."  It goes through the day of a little girl, and she rejoices in all things, including her breakfast, playing with a friend, her afternoon nap, etc.  It's lovely, and a great reminder to me whenever I read it to Stella.  I love to hear her repeat the verse with me.

And I think I will end with that.
"This is the day that the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it."
Rejoice! :)

Hi there! So great to hear this update and we are very excited for you guys. Stella is SO big in those pics and I keep thinking how much fun she and Michelle would have together.

I hear you on the discipline thing. BOTH of mine are testing me DAILY. Ugh!!! But in the long run it is going to work out OK.

What a wonderful update! LOVE the pic with the midwife's drawing--how clever:)
Such a good reminder to just remember that God gives us each day and we should rejoice in it!! Sure do miss you girls and think of you so, so often. So impressed with your diaper making skills and the hats are adorable. Can't wait to see your new little one, Jenny

Oh that second last paragraph is me to a T. Desperately need to slow down and genuinely can't figure out how.

But I AM in the 'get this baby out of me' stage, and I still have 5 weeks to go!

LOVE the tummy art.

I don't know what you're talking about as I can't imagine that any of the pictures could be unflattering. You look resplendent! We're praying for a beautiful and safe delivery!!

I had to stop reading at the picture of Stella on her bed, I was laughing so hard. Your dad came out to see what I was laughing at - he hadn't heard me laughing that hard in a long time!
I, too, love the picture of Stellb on your tummy, and all the pictures of Stella. You must tell her how cute she looks in her "bolero" picture with her eyes wide open and her eyebrows lifted.
I'm impressed with your matching hats for your girls.
See you soon!
